Summer internships:

  • We do not provide stipendia and travel support for summer internships. Therefore such applications from non-EU countries generally make no sense.

 

Phd Position:

  • Light-matter interaction of molecules in nanoscale templates (spectroscopy and preparation)

    Two-dimensional templates with periodic pores and length scales in the nanometer range can be prepared in a self-organized way using electrochemical approaches. Such materials allow investigation and manipulation of light-matter interaction of inserted molecules and their array. In the proposed thesis, arrays based on anodized aluminium and porous silicon will be investigated and optimized with respect to fluorescence dynamics and enhanced Raman scattering cross section.

This position is available starting in Summer 2010. Candidates need some background in electronic correlations, optics or preparation. Please also see the corresponding page of the IGSM Braunschweig. and our project P1 within the NTH Graduate School Contacts in Nanosystems.

Phd position:

  • Spectroscopy and preparation of nanostructured matter

Within research projects of the German Science Foundation systems like multiferroic/nanoscale composites and nanoporose matter will be prepared and investigated.

This position on the level of a Phd position (TV-L E13 3/4 BAT IIa) is available starting September 2007. Candidates should have finished a study in physics including solid state physics/magnetism and an experimental thesis in light scattering, a related technique or nanostructured matter.  

Phd position:

  • Raman Scattering on Magnetic Systems

Within research projects of the German Science Foundation light scattering and ultrasonic experiments will be performed and analyzed. Systems like molecular and frustrated magnets and thermoelectric cobaltates are of central interest.

This position on the level of a Phd position is available starting mid 2007. Candidates should have finished a study in physics including solid state physics/magnetism and an experimental thesis in light scattering or a related technique.

Diplom- und Masterarbeiten:

  • Mögliche Diplomarbeiten mit den folgenden Arbeitsschwerpunkten können jederzeit vergeben werden:

    • Optische Spektroskopie (Grundlagen, Beispiele) und Aufbau eines Raster-Raman-Spektrometers (Tip-enhanced Raman scattering)

    • Präparation (nanoskalige Systeme, Multiferroika, Grundlagen) ab Mitte 2007

    • Ultraschallspektroskopie (Multiferroika, Quantenkritische Systeme, Grundlagen, Beispiele).

  • Unsere Labore stehen jederzeit zur Besichtigung und für Praktikumsversuche offen. Themen sind Ultraschallspektroskopie an Kompositen, Präparation von Hochtemperatursupraleitern und Raman-Streuung an multiferroischen Systemen und molekularen Magneten.

 

AG Lemmens:

Our group is presently setting up different research programs in the field of material research and magnetism of nanoscale and correlated systems. The material classes are mainly based on transition metal ions in oxide/halide coordinations:

  • molecular magnets (project within a DFG-Schwerpunkt)

  • multiferroic systems (composites, multilayers and intrinsic MF, project application underway) systems with competing interactions (ESF program Highly Frustrated Magnetism).

  • setup a tip enhanced Raman scattering system (low T, high fields). The basic AFM (Attocube modules) is coupled to our Raman spectrometer.

Our experimental techniques are ultrasound spectroscopy, Raman scattering and preparation of nanostructured matter with electronic correlations.
